Amici Rehearsals to date and future

Cari Amici,

Our next rehearsal is on November 2 at 17.30 when we will revise Bach Christmas Oratorio, Mendelssohn Cast Thy Burden and commence learning, (re learning ) Vivaldi Gloria.  We will perform part 1 of the Christmas Oratorio  together with Vivaldi in the concert to be given on December 21st with orchestra and soloists and it is vital that every one schedules diaries for maximum attendance … this is challenging music and every member is vital both for rehearsal and performance. The team is incomplete when one of you is missing!! If absence is unavoidable please continue to inform Vicky or as it is disappointing for us all when voices are missing … and even more so if we are not sure why

The orchestra for our concert on December 21 will cost c £1900 and it was agreed at our last rehearsal that we would raise this amount either through seeking sponsorship, patronage, coffee mornings, bean bag/marmalade/chutney sales….any other ideas?

The calendar of rehearsals has been updated but the dates for 2017 are provisional and are copied here for your diaries until summer 2017.

Monday Music at the Beaney

Dear All

Hope you are all still enjoying our lively Monday morning singing sessions – great fun as always aren’t they ?

As Grenville mentioned on Monday last, there is now a slight change of our original Monday arrangements.

We will sing as usual at St Paul’s next Monday 24th October, but instead of having a break the following Monday 31st, we will now be singing in the Beaney.  This will be the usual time 11 am – 12 pm, but please try to be there for 10.45 am wearing your MM scarves as usual.  All the other dates are as previously stated.

Best wishes

Last weeks rehearsal October 5th

Cari Amici
A very good and productive rehearsal last Wednesday.Thank you! The Bach is glorious music but very demanding and I want us to be so familiar with the notes that each line will appear as a friend. Thus be prepared for more deconstruction and reassembly of the first chorus. I very much prefer the basses positioned behind me. We will make this a permanent arrangement asking you to bring a chair from the nave before the start of the rehearsal.

On December 21st we will also perform Vivaldi Gloria and a new work from Christopher.
A few familiar faces missing from last weeks rehearsal and I hope that if you were not well you are now fully recovered and if away on holiday you are now fully rested! Please continue to inform Vicky if you are unable to be at a rehearsal

Please will you indicate at next weeks rehearsal if you need a Vivaldi score . Novello edition c £6.00 and required for rehearsal on 26th October.

Some tickets left for Canterbury Music Club concert 75th anniversary season with Cantata choir and orchestra, and wonderful cellist Jane Lindsay.
– Zelenka: Miserere
– Haydn: Cello Concerto No. 1
– Handel: Dixit Dominus
– Handel: Zadok the Priest

To ensure that you get a seat, I suggest that you book on-line through our web-site at

or directly through .

Finally, I am delighted to announce that Kerry has agreed to be associate director of Amici and we will be meeting soon to discuss repertoire for the next few years ahead.

All best wishes
